The Natundenga village is located 2 kms from the Burapahar range of Kaziranga National Park and 7 kms from Jakhalabandha. About 200 people from the ethenic Karbi tribes live here in this beautiful village. Poverty and litteracy were the main problems of the people here with only 8 – 9 % literacy rate. The main occupation of the people is agriculture although the forest still remains a key source of livelihood. Now as the population increases, it slowly started becoming a threat to the rich biodiversity of the area. But with this new initiative taken by Grand Eastern Holidays in association with forest department one can easily notice the changes in the lifestyle of these villagers. People are now motivated to live with nature instead of destroying it. Even they take their own initiatives to preserve the nature by doing voluntary patroling in the park, working in tendem with the National Park authority to track down the forest trespassers. The Natundenga Eco Tourism society, developed by Grand Eastern Holidays showcase the culture and traditions by various forms such as performing traditional dances, ethnic cuisines, village walks etc. Now the government of Assam also appreciates the initiatives and offers the helping hand by developing the infrastructure of the village.
