A treasure trove to wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers, Namdapha National Park is the largest National Park in the North Eastern region comprising an area of over 1985 sq km. It is the 15th Tiger Reserve in the country. The park is a habitant to a magnificent collection of qnique and endangered species of flora and fauna.  Namdapha National Park holds the unique position in the world as the only dwelling place of four species of the big cat’s family – the Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Clouded Leopard and the Snow Leopard. It is a home to the endangered Hoolock Gibbon, Red Panda, Capped Langur, Takin and several species of Macaque. A small population of Python, King Cobra and Reticulated Python also adds to the fauna community of the park.

 

Different bird species like Great Indian Hornbill, Kalij, Forest Eagle, Bengal Florican, Monal Pheasants, Satyr Tragopan etc. are found in the park. The flora of Namdapha National Park includes Mekai, Bamboo, Hollong, Magnolia, Betula, Hollock, Tall Cane, Pine, Oak, Rhododendrons etc. Namdapha National Park holds over 150 species of timber along with a variety of medicinal and ornamental plants. The presence of a wide variety of richly coloured butterflies enhances the glory of the park.

Miao: Located in the left bank of river Noa Dehing, Miao is regarded as the gateway to famous Namdapha National Park. Miao has a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The main tribes in this region are the Singpho,Tangsa, Lisu and few other tribes of the state. With the arrival of winter, the beautiful places in and around Miao becomes a perfect gateaway for weekends. One can visit the Namdapha National Park and camp for few days, village tours to learn about the ethnic tribe’s way of life and also enjoy the beautiful landscapes near the township. One can enjoy the beauty of Patkai hills from Miao ghat, take a tour to villages and enjoy the ‘Chunga Chai’ and learn how to make them. Diban: A beautiful forest camp on the bank of the river Noa-Dihing. It is located within the boundary of Namdapha National Park. One can enjoy the scenic beauty of overlooking Noa-Dihing river. The Forest Inspection Bungalow located at Deban itself surrounded by evergreen forest over looking the river Noa-Dihing is worth-staying. It is also ideal for trekking, hiking and angling on the river Noa-Dihing.

Popular Trekking spots inside the Namdapha National Park:

Haldibari: This pictureque camping spot, just 5 Km away from Deban, lies across the Noa-Dehing river can be reached by boat. An overnight stay here is enjoyable experience in jungle camping.

Bulbulia:This is an enchanting camping site overlooking a large aquifer and derives its name from its several natural springs. You need to be extremely lucky for an opportunity to stay here overnight and exprience close encounters with wild animals frequenting the water holes in the dark.

Camera Point: This camping site, as the name suggests offers a vantage point for a breath-taking view of Namdapha and its lush green landscape.
